From freight networks to a biologic

Gahagen did not come up through a university lab. He came up through the unglamorous work of standing up entities, owning a P&L, and making vendors, inventory, and cross-border timelines behave. That is not a mismatch for a preclinical nanobody. PHP53-nb has to move through CROs, a CHO manufacturing path, cold chain, and a planned IND clock. Those are operations problems wearing a scientific costume.

What this CEO actually coordinates

His mandate is alignment, not authorship. Scientific lead, clinical plan, finance, and manufacturing have to share one sequence of milestones. He is the person accountable for that sequence holding together between Southlake and the partner labs that generate the data.

Operating biography

Robert Gahagen leads PHP Biotech as Chief Executive Officer, bringing more than three decades of senior operating experience across large multinational organizations. His career has been built in global entity startups, supply chain operations, vendor management, and business development — the disciplines that help translate a promising scientific asset into a fundable, executable therapeutic program.

Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, where PHP Biotech is headquartered, Gahagen has held regional P&L responsibility at global logistics companies including Menlo Worldwide, Celadon, and Kuehne + Nagel. Major key accounts included Walmart, General Motors, IBM, Cisco, and AbbVie. Moving a biologic from discovery through preclinical work and into Phase I requires rigorous coordination of CROs, CDMOs, cold-chain logistics, and international regulatory timelines.

He earned his BS from Kansas State University and his International MBA at the University of South Carolina. As CEO, his mandate is to align PHP Biotech’s scientific, clinical, financial, and operational functions behind a single objective: advancing a first-in-class, p53-reactivating nanobody toward patients with the most aggressive and underserved cancers.
