Executive Committee · Former hospital and pharma CEO

Paulo Nigro

Executive Committee Member

Tetra Pak. Aché. A cancer hospital. Then a nanobody.

A preclinical company does not need another scientist as much as it needs someone who has already run a hospital, a pharma P&L, and an industrial biotech — and knows which meetings waste a year.

Why a hospital CEO belongs here

During Nigro’s tenure, Sírio-Libanês was ranked among Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals, and he was named among the top five CEOs in global healthcare in contemporaneous 2024 coverage. That is not a PHP claim about PHP53-nb. It is a claim about the kind of operator sitting on the committee: someone who has already been measured by patients, physicians, and a balance sheet at the same time.

A biography of chief-executive seats

Paulo Nigro is a globally seasoned chief executive and board leader with more than 40 years of experience driving innovation and enterprise growth across multinational organizations, including several in healthcare and life sciences.

Trained as a mechanical engineer (FAAP), he also holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration (Mackenzie) and executive education at IMD and Singularity University. After roughly 25 years at Tetra Pak — including CEO roles in Canada and Italy — he served as President and CEO of Aché Laboratórios (2014–2017), Global CEO of InterCement, CEO of GranBio, and CEO of Hospital Sírio-Libanês (2021–2024).

In 2024 Sírio-Libanês was ranked among the world’s top 100 hospitals by Newsweek, and Nigro was named one of the top 5 CEOs in the global healthcare sector. He offers PHP Biotech counsel on growth, partnerships, and the executive discipline required to move a deep-tech asset toward the clinic.
